Barty withdraws from Qatar due to hip injury
Australian star Ashleigh Barty withdrew from the Qatar Total Open due to a hip injury, the WTA announced.
Barty was seeded ninth for the tournament in Doha.
Barty was part of three victories (two singles, one doubles) in the Fed Cup over the past two days as the Aussies upset the United States 3-2.
In the lone main-draw match held Monday, Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Fatma Al-Nabhani of Oman.
Romania's Simona Halep is the top seed and Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic is the second seed. Halep defeated Pliskova in a two-hour, 37-minute match on Sunday as Romania upset reigning Fed Cup champion Czech Republic.
Germany's Angelique Kerber is the No. 3 seed, and Ukraine's Elina Svitolina is No. 4.
