Can You Judge a Man By His Fingers?
Before you put a ring on it, ladies, look closely at your man's fingers. Men with short index fingers and long ring fingers are nicer to women, and this unexpected phenomenon stems from the hormones these men were exposed to in their mother's womb, according to researchers at McGill University in Montreal, Québec.

Men, your finger length could be a quick test for your risk of developing prostate cancer.

Previous research has found that digit ratio--defined as the second digit length divided by the fourth digit length--is an indication of the amount of male hormones, chiefly testosterone, that someone has been exposed to as a fetus: that is, the smaller the ratio, the more male hormones.

The McGill study shows a link between a biological event in fetal life and adult behavior. In this case, it suggests it has an impact on how adult men behave, especially with women.

The study: Led by McGill psychology professor Debbie Moskowitz, the team recruited 155 participants. For 20 days, they completed a questionnaire detailing every social interaction that lasted five minutes or more and checked off a list of behaviors in which they engaged. These behaviors were then classified by the researchers as either agreeable or quarrelsome.

The results: Men with small digit ratios reported approximately 33 percent more agreeable behaviors and approximately 33 percent fewer quarrelsome behaviors than did the men with large digit ratios.

Translation: Men with shorter index fingers and longer ring fingers have more harmonious relationships with women. They "were more likely to listen attentively, smile and laugh, compromise or compliment the other person," says Moskowitz.

The men acted this way not only in sexual relationships, but also with female friends or colleagues. In addition, they were less quarrelsome with women than with men, whereas the men with larger ratios were equally quarrelsome with both.

What about women's fingers? Digit ratio variation did not predict how they behaved.

The study findings were published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

What a dirty little secret! Whether your lover will cheat can be predicted by the sound of his--or her--voice.
