Eat THIS. Don't Get Prostate Cancer?
You are what you eat. And this is especially true when it comes to choosing certain foods that are known to help prevent cancer. The good news is that you don't have to drastically change your diet to reap the benefits. Geo Espinosa, M.D., author of "Thrive, Don't Only Survive," told FOX News, "We have enough data to support that eating properly can significantly reduce the risk of prostate cancer."

Men, your finger length could be a quick test for your risk of developing prostate cancer.

This is the most common non-skin cancer among men with more than 180,000 new cases diagnosed this year, according to the American Cancer Society. You can begin the battle against prostate cancer at the dinner table. Diets that are high in saturated fats--the kind found in meat and dairy products--are linked to a higher risk for prostate cancer.

Top 10 foods that help prevent prostate cancer, according to FOX News:

1. Broccoli
Why? Broccoli, along with cauliflower, cabbage, collard greens and kale, are cruciferous vegetables rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals that may prevent cell changes that can lead to cancer.

2. Salmon
Why? Along with sardines, mackerel and halibut, salmon is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which has been shown to help prevent prostate cancer.

3. Brazil nuts
Why? Selenium is one of the most important minerals for protection from prostate cancer, and Brazil nuts are packed with it. Just six to eight nuts contain more than 700 percent of the daily requirement for selenium.

4. Tomatoes
Why? Tomatoes are rich with lycopene, a carotenoid (plant pigment) that may prevent prostate cancer. Since lycopene is better absorbed with fat, drizzle a small amount of olive oil over your raw or cooked tomatoes.

5. Walnuts
Why? Walnuts have been shown to slow prostate cancer growth in mice and reduce the levels of IGF-1, a hormone that has been linked to prostate cancer.

6. Berries
Why? Oxidative stress is one of the causes of prostate cancer. By preventing oxidative stress, healthy cells are less like to turn cancerous. Some of the best foods to help prevent oxidative stress are blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.

7. Coffee
Why? Coffee, which is packed with antioxidants, appears to help prevent prostate cancer by helping the body metabolize sugars more effectively. The only gotcha? You have to drink four to five cups a day.

8. Carrots
Why? Carrots, along with pumpkin and winter squash, are a rich source of beta-carotene, a carotenoid that is converted to vitamin A and has antioxidant properties. Eat three servings a week for the greatest benefits.

9. Pomegranate juice
Why? Components in pomegranate juice appear to prevent cancer cells from moving and weakening their attraction to a chemical signal that promotes the metastasis of prostate cancer to the bone.

10. Soy
Why? While eating lots of soy-rich foods isn't enough to prevent cancer, some laboratory studies show that an ingredient in soy protein--isoflavones--may interfere with the pathways in prostate cancer cells that lead to inflammation and the growth and spread of cancer.
