Toni, who was the evening's top honoree, received BMI's President's Award. It was given to her as one of the top-selling R&B artists of all time, as well as in recognition of her extensive philanthropic efforts. Over her career, she has won three Grammys.

Hosted by comedian and actor Chris Tucker, the show recognizes R&B and hip-hop songwriters, producers and publishers. This is the first time it was held in Atlanta.
