The Top 20 Richest Cities in the USA

The United States is the ninth wealthiest nation in the world, according to the World Bank.

And within this country, there are some who are rich. Very, very rich.

Where do they live? Mostly in California.

The experts at FindTheHome analyzed data from the American Community Survey to figure out the average per capita income in U.S. cities larger than 4,000 people, and seven of the top 20 wealthiest cities are located in California.

Certain characteristics emerged that defined the wealthiest cities:

  • They are located in small suburbs near major metropolitan areas where there are high-paying jobs.

  • Affluent areas are populated with people who have higher levels of education.

  • These areas attract married couples who either have or are planning to have children.
