Turn off the TV. Turn off the music. Listening to yourself eat may reduce how much food you consume, according to researchers from Brigham Young University and Colorado State University. It's called the "crunch effect." You're likely to eat less if you are conscious of the sound your food makes while you're eating. The noise from a TV show or sounds of a song can mask that noise, which is nature's way of keeping your food intake in check.
