Top 20 Fastest-Growing Jobs in the USA
Pssst! Want to know a secret? Electronic shopping. Consider it the new "plastics," as popularized in the 1967 movie "The Graduate." If you're looking for a job--be it your first position out of college or a mid-career switch--electronic shopping could be your ticket. And if that doesn't entice you, there are 19 other jobs that might. All are considered to be the fastest-growing industries with ample job prospects from now through 2021, according to a study by CareerBuilder.com.

If you want to be so happy you whistle at work, this is the kind of job you need to find.

Using data from Emsi, CareerBuilder's labor market analysis arm that pulls information from more than 90 national and state employment resources, the study determined that some 7.2 million new jobs will be created between 2016 and 2021, a 4.6 percent increase. And some industries are expected to far outpace the national average during this five-year period.

Exhibit A: Jobs in the electronic shopping industry are expected to grow by 32 percent over the next five years.

The following industries are among those that are projected to add at least 10,000 jobs and experience at least 15 percent growth in employment over the next five years:

1. Electronic shopping: 32 percent increase in job growth
2. Translation and interpretation services: 28 percent
3. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and audiologists: 25 percent
4. Home health care services: 24 percent
5. Continuing care retirement communities: 24 percent

6. Telemarketing bureaus: 20 percent
7. Marketing consulting services: 20 percent
8. Environment, conservation and wildlife organizations: 19 percent
9. Computer systems design services: 19 percent
10. Nail salons: 19 percent

11. Portfolio management: 18 percent
12. Psychiatric and substance abuse facilities: 18 percent
13. Pet care (except veterinary) services: 18 percent
14. Employment placement agencies: 18 percent
15. Administrative management and general management consulting services: 18 percent

16. Grantmaking foundations: 17 percent
17. Ambulance services: 17 percent
18. Warehouse clubs and supercenters: 17 percent
19. Internet publishing and broadcasting and web search portals: 16 percent
20. Sports and recreation instruction: 15 percent
