FACTBOX-Over 500,000 still without power after storm in U.S. Mid-Atlantic
March 5 (Reuters) - U.S. Mid-Atlantic and Northeast utilities said more than 500,000 homes and businesses were still without power on Monday after a snow and ice storm battered the region with violent winds late last week. That was down from over 2 million affected by the storm. The utilities said they expected to restore service to most of the affected customers later Monday but warned that some people in the hardest hit areas may have to wait a few more days. New York’s Consolidated Edison Inc, one of the harder hit utilities, said it had already restored power to more than 90,000 of the 132,000 customers who lost service. The utility, however, said on its website that some customers in suburbs north of New York City in Westchester County may have to wait until Thursday to have their power restored. Most of the current outages were in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
