NHC says 40 pct chance of cyclone near Bahamas
Aug 25 (Reuters) - A broad area of low pressure moving westward through the southeastern Bahamas has a 40 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Thursday.
"Although upper-level winds are not conducive for significant development during the next day or so, they could become a little more favorable over the weekend or early next week when the wave is expected to approach southern Florida or the southeastern Gulf of Mexico," the Miami-based weather agency said.
