John Schneider's Louisiana studio flooded again
The Louisiana home production studio owned by Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider has been seriously damaged by flooding for the second time in five months.
The actor/director bought the 116-year-old property on the banks of the Tickfaw River in Holden in 2013, and he transformed it into a living space, a film and TV studio, and a home for his mother.
Disaster struck in March (16) when much of the area was left under water, including parts of Schneider's pad, and now the star is facing having to start the repair efforts from scratch after the latest deluge of rain this month (Aug16) caused the river to overflow and cause extreme flooding on his land.
"I've never experienced anything like this before," he tells The Associated Press. "There's mud. There's silt. There's sand. It's everywhere. We used to have a baseball field on the property. Now it's covered with sand. I guess we can use it as beach set now."
Schneider reveals his dogs are lucky to be alive after climbing up onto a table in the barn area before a friend was able to rescue the pooches, while others helped to save his guitars and recover two films the 56-year-old had had stored on his computer.
His pals, including Nip/Tuck star Dylan Walsh, recently gathered to help clean out one of his sound stages, but despite the setback, Schneider has no plans to halt the work of his studio.
"It (floods) might slow it down but won't stop it," he declared defiantly. "You can't let something like this beat you."
However, the rebuilding and recovery effort for his main house will take a little longer as it's no longer safe to live in.
"The floors buckled and came up due to the water so it's not safe in there," he explained. "That's going to have to be repaired before anyone can use that."
Despite having his own property problems, Schneider headed to Branston, Missouri on Sunday (28Aug16) to help host a flood relief benefit concert for locals.
