Horse racing-Jockeys take to the beach at Ireland's Laytown Races

Sept 13 (Reuters) - Jockeys took to a sandy track for the Laytown Strand Races on Tuesday, horse racing down a beach in Ireland.

With the waves lapping in the distance, racegoers watched the competitors make their way along the coastline for the first of six afternoon races, which are held when the tide goes out.

Organizers say the event, first recorded in 1868, is the only race on a beach under the rules of Ireland's Turf Club.
