Formula One sale to Liberty Media to go ahead next week: auto motor und sport
A sale of Formula One to Liberty Media is to go ahead next week, the sport's commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone told German trade magazine auto motor und sport on the sidelines of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Saturday. The magazine said that according to Ecclestone, Liberty Media will transfer the first of two tranches of payment in the $8.5 billion deal on Tuesday.

Halep gets Hungarian fright before reaching last 16
Fifth seed Simona Halep narrowly avoided a third-round upset with a 6-1 2-6 6-4 win over Hungary's Timea Babos on Saturday to keep her U.S. Open title hopes alive. Motor racing: Hamilton runs away with Monza pole position
Lewis Hamilton swept to a dominant pole position at the Italian Grand Prix for the third year in succession on Saturday with Mercedes team mate and title rival Nico Rosberg joining the Briton on the front row of the grid. The pole was the 56th of the triple world champion's Formula One career and he equaled the record of five at Monza held by the late Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio and Brazilian Ayrton Senna.
Del Potro surprising himself with last-16 run
When former U.S. Open champion Juan Martin del Potro began his latest comeback in March he said he was playing for fun after three operations on his wrist. Six months on, with an Olympic silver medal in the bag, the Argentine beat 11th seed David Ferrer of Spain 7-6 6-2 6-3 to reach the U.S. fourth round for the first time since 2012.
Golf: Australian Hend takes one-shot lead at Crans-sur-Sierre
Scott Hend moved a shot clear of Sweden's Alex Noren after carding a five-under-par 65 in the third round of the European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland on Saturday. The Australian, who won the True Thailand Classic in March and represented his country at the Rio Olympics, started the day a shot off the pace but picked up four birdies on the front nine and two more after the turn before a bogey at the last left him on 13 under.
Frustrated Murray finds way past pesky Lorenzi
Flummoxed and frustrated by wily veteran Paolo Lorenzi for two sets, second seed Andy Murray changed tactics and beat the 34-year-old Italian at his own game to advance to the U.S. Open fourth round on Saturday. Murray was moping and muttering to himself as he pressed for winners against the steady Italian and piled up unforced errors before deciding to patiently play long rallies that enabled him to secure a 7-6(4) 5-7 6-2 6-3 win.
