Washingtonians Toasted the Super Bowl at the Grand Opening of Momo's Sports Bar
WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Momo's Sports Bar celebrated its
recent arrival to the U Street neighborhood with a private launch party last
night. More than 125 guests enjoyed Momotinis courtesy of Belvedere and draft
beer sponsored by Coors Light -- the official beer of the NFL. A search light
that could be seen from around the city greeted guests while the cool grooves
of DJ Chris Burns filled the sleek three-level townhouse.
Attendees sampled Momo's signature BBQ wings, baby-back ribs, and polish
boys -- all created by managing partner and Miami catering guru Dale
O'Stricker.
Momo's resides in a converted townhouse space in the heart of Washington's
trendy U Street neighborhood. The sports bar boasts 18 flat screen
televisions, two full bars, and a private VIP party room on the third level.
The sleek-but-cozy bar's second-floor space features a handful of comfy
couches -- sure to become coveted real estate for the Super Bowl this Sunday.
The bar offers $2.50 domestic beers and $10 pitchers on Saturday, Sunday
and Monday nights. Bargoers are treated to celebratory glasses of sparkling
wine after every Redskins win. In addition to a regular DJ and live reggae
bands, the bar has plans to host Nintendo Wii tournaments on Wednesday nights.
The opening benefited the charity Ball For All (www.ballforall.org).
Founded in 2004 by three enterprising Peace Corps volunteers, Ball For All
promotes opportunities for African youth through sports and education. Ball
For All provides equipment, uniforms, school fees and academic prizes for
girls and boys who are developing leadership and team skills while learning to
play team sports.
"On behalf of Ball for All, I would like to thank Momo's for supporting
our organization as we strive to increase organized sporting opportunities for
young school children in Africa," said Ball for All board member and founder
Jeffrey Chatellier. "Sports teach children important life skills and empower
them to do great things off the field. The donations from last night will
help children in Africa become great athletes and future leaders in their
communities."
