British mechanic wins European grasstrack motor racing title
LONDON, Sept 13 (Reuters) - A 19-year-old British motor mechanic has won the 2016 grasstrack European Solo Championship in which motorcyclists race in a grassy field.
James Shanes, who came second last year, took the title at the biggest motorcycle grasstrack meeting of the British season in the southern English town of Folkestone on Sunday.
Grasstrack is one of the oldest kinds of motorcycle sports in Britain, dating back to the 1920s.
