Cleveland Indians to remove 'Chief Wahoo' from uniforms in 2019 - MLB

NEW YORK, Jan 29 (Reuters) - The Cleveland Indians baseball team agreed to remove the longtime logo of a smiling "Chief Wahoo" from their uniforms, starting with the 2019 season, Major League Baseball announced on Monday.

“Major League Baseball is committed to building a culture of diversity and inclusion throughout the game,” MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred said in a statement. “Over the past year, we encouraged dialog with the Indians organization about the club’s use of the Chief Wahoo logo."
