Looking For a Rental Car?

Labor Day Weekend is right around the corner, and I could not be more excited. I am taking a little trip and everything is all planned out except one last detail: the rental car.

Renting a car can be so fun because it is like adopting a driving alter-ego. In every-day life you may not be able to trade in your Kia for a Lexus, but during your vacation you can drive your fantasy car all you want. So while your at it, might as well make it a convertible.

On the other hand, cheap car hire seems to be the more conventional way to rent a car. Car rental companies tend to rent out the more pratical models of sedans and coupes than than they do the luxury models. It all depends on your needs. If you have a lot of passengers traveling with you, rental suvs are economical because you don't have to rent multiple cars and you only have to deal with the bad gas mileage for a couple days.

With so many car rental companies out there, I decided to see what car rentals other AOL Search users were searching for to guide me in my quest for a rental car. Our top searched list of car rentals includes a lot of companies that each have something different to offer. Number one on our list, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, offers to pick renters up with their rental car. Budget, number 3 on the list, offers Budget truck rentals where you can rent larger vehicles, like trucks and vans, if you need to move or tow something for a day.

One of the easiest ways to rent a car is by visiting a travel site. They offer travel packages that can also include cheap car rentals. You can also check with your auto club for a discount. A lot of clubs have their own rental car agreements, like AAA car rental.

Good or bad: tell us about your car rental experience. You can find more about car rentals on AOL Search.

Searching For Some Energy?

Need a boost of energy? A cup of coffee and a can of caffeinated soda are considered "old school" now when it comes to getting your mid-day energy boost. From Red Bulls to the Starbucks Doubleshot, energy drinks are becoming so popular that I'm beginning to wonder, does anyone sleep?

While I've never had an energy drink myself, I have noticed as hundreds of different energy drink brands hit the grocery store shelves, and I've started to wonder, do these really work? They must work if people are still purchasing them, leading to the continuation of the energy drink craze.

Out of the variety of energy drinks out there, Red Bull takes the lead as the most commonly searched for energy drink. Other popular energy drinks include Monster, Rockstar, and Jolt. All of these drinks are developed to increase mental and physical exertion, but many people use them simply to stay awake.

Remember to drink in moderation. In the US, energy drinks have been linked to nausea, abnormal heart rhythms, and emergency room visits. Of course, you can always stick to the traditional cup of coffee, diet coke, or even some chocolate milk as an energy boost.

Do you know of any good energy drinks that did not make our list? If so, please tell us about them. Looking for an energy boost? Try searching for energy drinks on AOL Search or to purchase some energy drinks check out AOL Shopping.

Need a Treatment For Your Balding?

I was watching a funny movie this weekend where the father dyes his hair to hide the fact that he is going gray and losing his hair. He looked so ridiculous with his jet black hair that their dog kept barking at him because it didn't recognize him. I was laughing pretty hard when it occurred to me: do people really go this far to hide their thinning hair?

It is estimated that over half of all men will experience male pattern baldness by the time they are 50. But it is not only men that experience hair loss, hair loss in women is very common as well, especially in women who are going through menopause. Genes play a big roll in determining baldness, but also some medications cause hair loss.

I started to wonder what measures people take to stop hair loss and regrow hair. Besides wearing a hat to cover up bald spots, I decided to look at what other AOL Search users were searching for to remedy their hair loss.

The top two of our list are two generic brands of medication used as both topical and oral treatments. Finasteride is commonly known as Propecia and Proscar, and Minoxidil is popularly known as Rogaine.

More natural treatments include Saw Palmetto, a natural extract, and Shen Min, a special type of hair vitamin. A lot of people turn to hair transplant surgery, which shows more immediate results because a hair follicle is directly implanted into your skin.

Not all treatments will work for everyone, and there are a lot of scams out there, so beware. Remember that hair in a spray can? What do you use to treat your baldness? Let us know. For more about balding search AOL Search or look for hair loss treatments on AOL Shopping.

I love finding fun widgets to add to my dashboard. Some of them are just for sheer entertainment, like my quotes of the day widget, and some are so helpful I don't know what I would do with out them, like my gas buddy widget that tells me the lowest gas prices around. Searching for the Perfect Place to Retire?

As the baby boomers begin to retire, retirement communities are becoming increasingly popular. Most of these communities offer gorgeous homes, golf courses, recreation and the lifestyle of your dreams.

Different from retirement homes, communities are specially designed for people who no longer work, but are not necessary needy of constant medical attention. Time for a Coffee Break

I had never been much of a coffee drinker until my trip to Hawaii last year. While I was there I discovered the delicious and rich flavors of Kona coffee, only available from the Hawaiian Islands. Since then, just the smell of fresh coffee beans or coffee brew makes my mouth water.

Coffee drinkers are a dedicated bunch. They set their automatic Cuisinart coffee maker to brew their morning coffee the same way they set their alarm to wake them up in the morning. Or they stop at their favorite coffee franchise, like Starbucks, every morning on their way to work.

I don't need too much caffeine in the morning, so I like to stick with my one cup coffee maker. Though I like my Keurig coffee maker, I thought it would be nice to try some other types of coffee. I decided to get some suggestions by looking at what kinds of coffee people are searching for on AOL Search.

For a special treat, I am excited to try some of the gourmet coffee that showed up on the top searched list. Number seven, Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, has regional exclusivity like Kona coffee and a deliciously unique flavor. Gevalia Coffee carries a wide variety of gourmet flavors and roasts, including seasonal flavors. I was also interested in getting some green coffee beans and roasting my own coffee. What could be fresher?

If I need a cup of joe on the go, drive thru coffee, like Dunkin Donuts, is the fastest and I can get some breakfast. Green Mountain Coffee, number one on the list, is also great with food and is served at a lot of restaurants because they sell wholesale coffees.

There are so many choices. What is your favorite type of coffee? Leave a comment and let us know! Find out about more types of coffee on AOL Search and locate a coffee shop near you with AOL Yellow Pages.

Searching for a New Mobile Phone?

My two-year cell phone contract ends in September and I am currently beginning the search for a new mobile phone. I am really happy with my cell phone service provider; however, I'm not so happy with the limited number of phones that they offer. Therefore, I am more than willing to change service providers in order to get what I want in my next mobile phone.

There are so many cool phones out there today with features such as wifi, bluetooth, touch screens, cameras, email, music players, and much more. While all of these features seem amazing, I need to be realistic about what features I will actually use so that I don't spend an arm and a leg on my next cell phone. My biggest priority as far as features go in my cell phone is wifi and email so that I can stay connected no matter where I am. But, limiting my search to just these two features still isn't making my decision that much easier.

Whether your cell phone contract is over or your phone has just hit the fritz, choosing your next cell phone is not always an easy task. Service providers, phone features, and price all add to the complications of choosing a cell phone. So, how do you decide?

Like most of my other big money spending decisions, I turned to the AOL Searchers to help me out. It was not a surprise that with its release in July, the Apple iPhone 3G has become the most searched for phone on AOL Search. Another popular phone is the RIM Blackberry Curve which offers several Blackberry accessories. Other popular phones include the Palm Treo and the Motorola RAZR.

Once you have picked a cell phone, the decisions don't end there. Cell phone companies provide several ways for you to pay for your cell phone service, such as pay as you go and prepaid plans.

Do you know of any mobile phones that didn't show up on our list? If so, please tell us about them. Are you looking for a new cell phone? Try searching cell phones on AOL Search. To get some awesome mobile features on your phone, check out AOL Mobile.

Two Legends Die, Olympics in Full Swing

The world is a bit less funny after Bernie Mac died on Saturday, a little more than a week after seeking medical treatment for pneumonia. The actor had suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease, but this was not known to be related to the pneumonia that caused his death. In another shocking death this weekend, award-winning soul legend Isaac Hayes was found unresponsive near a treadmill in his home. Other than his singing and songwriting, Hayes was also well known for his voice as the character "Chef" on Comedy Central's show 'South Park.' Coincidentally, Mac and Hayes recently finished filming a movie together, 'Soul Men,' which is expected to be released in November.

The 2008 Olympics kicked off in Beijing on Friday with a lavish opening ceremony that spurred a Chinese winning streak. The team is currently in first place with 14 medals, nine of which are gold. The U.S. is in second with only three gold medals, two of which were won by swimming star Michael Phelps. Phelps won one with the U.S. team in the Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay and another one solo in the Men's 400m Medley, where he also set a new world record.

Speaking of setting records, Kyle Busch set a new record at the Watkins Glen International where he became the first driver in NASCAR's history to win three road course races in one season. In other sports news, reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre beat Jon Fitch at UFC 87 in a unanimous decision.

Popular affordable home decor company, IKEA, may sell more than just IKEA furniture. The IKEA Greentech group plans to start investing in clean technology, beginning by selling solar panels. "Some assembly required."

Former democratic party presidential candidate John Edwards admitted that he had an extramarital affair with a filmmaker hired to follow his campaign efforts. Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, who suffers from incurable breast cancer, announced she will support him through this.
