Pitbull becomes first Latin artist to bag Digital Radio Award
Pitbull has become the first Latin artist to be honored with the SoundExchange Digital Radio Award.
Bosses at the performance rights organization give out the gong to those who use them to collect royalties and whose songs are streamed on digital radio more than 1 billion times.
Pitbull, real name, Armando Christian P�rez received the award before his concert in Washington D.C. on Thursday (04Aug16) after his songs were played on digital radio stations more than 4 billion times.
In a statement published on the SoundExchange website, the Timber rapper said, "It's an honor to receive the SoundExchange Digital Radio Award. I have to thank my fans and listeners around the world because without them there is no Pitbull audience."
SoundExchange President and CEO Michael Huppe praised the star, saying, "Pitbull's universal appeal and ability to comfortably and capably cross into numerous musical genres are the reasons his fans have streamed his recordings billions of times."
