State Department official: 8,000 Syrian refugees resettled in U.S.

WASHINGTON, Aug 5 (Reuters) - The United States has resettled 8,000 Syrian refugees inside U.S. borders since October, Anne Richard, assistant secretary of state for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, told reporters on Friday.

The United States is on track to meet President Barack Obama's goal to resettle 10,000 refugees from Syria's civil war by the end of the fiscal year, Richard said. (Reporting by Julia Edwards; Editing by Jonathan Oatis)
