Bruce Springsteen's daughter wins $330,000 in equestrian event
Bruce Springsteen's daughter Jessica Springsteen took home $330,000 in prize money after winning a horse riding event.
The sportswoman, 24, won the seventh annual HITS Saugerties $1 Million Grand Prix show jumping event in Saugerties, New York on Sunday (11Sep16).
Jessica, who was an alternate rider for the U.S. equestrian team at the 2012 London Olympics, beat out a number of top competitors to earn a $330,000 slice of the event's $1 million purse.
"It feels amazing to win this class, I'm really happy; this is my first five-star Grand Prix win," she said after her win. "My horse was feeling fresh...and was jumping around the course nicely, so I'm very pleased with the result."
Jessica and her horse Cynar Va won the event in a dramatic jump off against Catherine Tyree and her animal Enjoy Louis after both completed clear rounds of the show jumping course.
"I just tried to keep it together when we stepped up to go a bit faster, but he (Cynar Va) was jumping unbelievable, so I knew I could take a little risk," Jessica said. "It all worked out and I am thrilled to win this class."
As for her father Bruce, he is set to embark on a book tour to promote his autobiography after its release later this month (Sep16).
