Ashton Kutcher joins Thomas Rhett onstage
Actor Ashton Kutcher showcased his vocals in Iowa on Saturday (27Aug16) as he joined country star Thomas Rhett onstage for a Garth Brooks cover.
The former That '70s Show star was a surprise guest at Thomas' Iowa City set, which was part of the Back Porch Revival benefit gig, and gamely tried to do the singer proud during a rendition of the extended version of Brooks' classic Friends in Low Places.
"Y'all think Ashton Kutcher knows the words to the third verse...?" Thomas asked the crowd, as he introduced the actor. "He ain't (sic) gonna mess up, but if he does, y'all got him covered, correct?"
Ashton happily took on the task, with a little help from the Die a Happy Man hitmaker, much to the audience's delight.
The Back Porch Revival show also featured performances from Blake Shelton and Big & Rich, and marked the first concert held at the city's Kinnick Stadium, the home of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes college football team.
The event was staged to raise money for the Native Fund, a non-profit founded by Iowa native Kutcher and former American football player Dallas Clark in 2008 to help locals in need.
Ashton's weekend trip home also included a stop at U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's campaign office in Cedar Rapids, where he voiced his support for the Democrat over her Republican rival Donald Trump.
"I'm not really like, a Democrat Democrat; I'm not really like, a super liberal, but I'm definitely not a Trumper," he declared to campaign workers, according to TheGazette.com.
He then condemned the reality star and real estate mogul-turned-politician as "very self-centered" and blasted him for "driving racial divisiveness" with his controversial comments on immigration and terrorism, concluding Trump is "not a person we can have being our person".
Kutcher's pregnant wife Mila Kunis joined the actor for his trip back home.
