Morrissey: 'Airport customs officials stole from me'

Rocker Morrissey has accused LAX immigration officers of stealing from him.

The former The Smiths star claims customs officials in Los Angeles took money out of his wallet when he refused to stand where they wanted him to stand.

Expanding on an incident he recalled in his book Autobiography, which led to a brief stint in an airport jail cell, he tells News.com.au, "They went through my belongings and took $150 out of my wallet. They kept the money and said, 'This is what saying no has cost you', which of course was illegal on their part."

The singer doesn't appear to have a lot of luck at airports - he also had a run-in with customs staff in Australia.

"When I arrived in Sydney last year the officer at Passport Control did her best to insult me and cause a scene when there was no need."

And he hit headlines in July, 2015, when he lodged an official complaint with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) alleging he was groped during a 'pat-down' search at San Francisco International Airport in California.
