France's Ayrault proposes new Syria ceasefire monitoring mechanism
UNITED NATIONS, Sept 21 (Reuters) - French foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault proposed on Wednesday a new mechanism to monitor a U.S.-Russia brokered truce in Syria.
"I have proposed a new monitoring mechanism and distributed it to all members of the Security Council ... for discussion," Ayrault told a United Nations Security Council briefing on Syria. (Reporting by John Irish and Michelle Nichols, Yara Bayoumy; editing by Grant McCool)
