Turkey dismisses almost 28,000 teachers over terrorism links - deputy PM

ISTANBUL, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Nearly 28,000 teachers have been expelled from the profession and 9,465 others have been suspended over alleged links with terrorism, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli said on Monday.

Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Canikli said the investigations into the suspended teachers were still under way. He added that 455 teachers who had previously been removed from duty had been reinstated after inquiries were completed.
