New York City police investigating reports of officer struck with meat cleaver -police
Sept 15 (Reuters) - The New York City Police Department is investigating reports of an officer being struck by a suspect wielding a meat cleaver in midtown Manhattan on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.
Police spokeswoman Sophia Mason said her office received reports of the attack but had no further details on the nature of the incident or the injuries to the officer.
ABC News tweeted that officers shot a suspect armed with a meat cleaver after he refused to put it down.
The New York Daily News reported that an officer was struck during an attack involving a meat cleaver outside Madison Square Garden.
