Syrian leader Assad prays at Daraya mosque for Eid - state media
BEIRUT, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad prayed on Monday at a mosque in a Damascus suburb that had been a major symbol of the uprising against him until it was evacuated by rebel fighters and their families last month.
Assad visited the city of Daraya, southwest of Damascus, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. The surrender of Daraya to government forces marked a significant blow to the five-year-long rebellion against Assad. (Writing by Tom Perry; Editing by Paul Tait)
