Prosecutor wants Sarkozy trial over campaign funds -source
PARIS, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy should face trial over alleged funding irregularities in his failed 2012 re-election campaign, the Paris state prosecutor has recommended, according to a judicial source.
If the investigating magistrate in charge of the case agrees with the prosecutor's view, a trial could complicate Sarkozy's bid for re-election in next year's presidential contest.
Sarkozy was put under formal investigation with regard to the scandal in February this year.
