Makeup Lessons

All couples clash sooner or later, but crazy-for-you couples know the secret to sustaining a healthy union is in how you make up after your major blowouts. Here, we show you how to kiss and make up, so you can be making out again soon.

Call a Truce

If you've been going at it for a while, or it's an issue that simply won't be resolved without more consideration, agree to think it over and call it a night. Then...

Make Nice

Bitter bickering can create a hostile atmosphere. Break the tension with a little diplomacy. Offer your sparring partner a drink, or make lunch or a snack for you both. Being sweet to each other - especially when you don't feel like it - will take the edge off and will help remind you that you still love each other.

Apologize...for Something

You don't need to apologize for the whole argument, but you do need to say you're sorry if you said or did something hurtful to your partner. Acknowledging that you're partly to blame for the battle will enable you and your honey to have a real discussion. It'll also give your sweetie more of an incentive to make amends, too.

Skip the Scorekeeping and the Silent Treatment

Sometimes it's hard to remember that fighting isn't about winning or losing. Yes, you secretly want to "win" the argument, but would you rather be right or be in a good relationship? Also, avoid punishing your partner with the silent treatment. It'll only widen the distance between you.

Accept an Apology

Don't demand an "I'm sorry" from your sweetie, but when you get it, make sure you both settle how you'll handle the situation in the future. Work out a compromise.

Kiss and Make Up

Once you've calmed your conflict, do something more meaningful than just stammer out an "I'm sorry." Even if you're not in the mood to make love, at least cuddle up a little to remind yourselves of all the good you've got going on.
