Getting Mail
How do I get new messages?
Click the Get Mail link or the New Mail tab to check for new messages. The page will reload with the New Mail tab forward. Any new messages will appear at the top of the list of messages.

Hint: Unread messages are indicated by using bold text as the subject.
How do I read a message?
To read a message, click the e-mail subject in the New Mail or other message lists. When you return to the message list, the message will no longer be marked as unread mail. Unread mail message subjects are displayed in bold text.
How can I tell the difference between new and old messages?
New messages have to the left of the subject indicating new mail status and appear with in bold text. When you read a message, the message subject is no longer displayed in bold text and the icon changes to to show read status.
How do I navigate through my list of messages?
The New Mail and Sent tabs show up to 25 messages at a time with the most recently received message at the top of the list. To see the next or previous 25 messages, click the Next or Previous link.

You can also navigate to a specific list of 25 messages by using the pull-down menu located between the Previous and Next links.
How do I delete messages?
Select one or more check boxes located to the left of the e-mail subject and click the Delete link in the toolbar.

Hint: You can select all the messages that appear on the screen by selecting the checkbox next to the text, "Select All Messages" at the bottom of your message list.
How do I keep messages as new?
Keep a message in the New Mail folder by selecting one or more check boxes located to the left of the e-mail date and clicking the Keep as New link in the toolbar. The "read" checkmark disappears, indicating the e-mail you selected is being kept as new.

Hint: You can select all the messages that appear on the screen by selecting the checkbox next to the text, "Select All Messages" at the bottom of your message list.
Reading Mail
How do I reply to the sender of a message?
When reading a message, click the Reply link. Clicking Reply displays a new Write Mail screen where you can write your reply. The To and Subject lines are filled in with the original e-mail author in the To field and the original e-mail subject in the Subject field.
How do I reply to the sender and all the recipients of a message?
When reading a message, click the Reply All link. Clicking Reply All displays a new Write Mail screen with the To, CC, and Subject fields filled in with the original e-mail author in the To field, the original copied recipients in the CC field, and the original e-mail subject in the Subject field.
How do I forward a message?
When reading a message, click the Forward link. Clicking Forward displays a new Write Mail screen with the Subject field filled in with the subject from the e-mail you are forwarding. Each line of the original e-mail text appears in the reply message preceded by a (>).
How do I download an attachment?
Click on the attachment filename link. Depending on the browser, the behavior will be different. The attachment will either automatically open, or you will be asked if you want to Open It or Save It. To save an image attachment, click the right mouse button (Mac users hold down the mouse button) and choose Save As.
How do I delete the message I am reading?
Click the delete link to delete the message you are currently reading. Please note that deleting an e-mail occurs instantly and cannot be undone. When you click delete, the message you are reading closes and you return to the message list that this message was in.
How do I keep the message I am reading as new?
Click the Keep as New link to keep the message you are reading as new. When you click Keep as New, the message you are reading will close and you will return to the New Mail folder.
How do I go to the next or previous message when reading my e-mail?
Click the Previous or the Next link to display the previous and next e-mail in your e-mail list, respectively.
Why are the From, To and CC e-mail addresses underlined (hyperlinked) when I'm reading a message?
When reading a message, you can click on an e-mail address in the From, To or CC line to access special features of your Mail on the Web. When you click the e-mail address link a small window appears allowing you to do the following:

• Send an Instant Message if your friend is online
• Send your friend an e-mail
How do I get more information about a message?
When you read e-mail, your Mail on the Web displays the e-mail subject, the date it was composed, the author, the recipient(s), and the attachment file name. You can view more information about the message by clicking the small arrow found on the bottom right of the header information. Clicking this arrow will reload the page showing full header information. You can hide the full header information by clicking the arrow again.
Instant Messenger
What is Instant Messaging?
Instant Messaging is a whole new way of communicating that allows you to send and receive messages in real-time. Instant Messaging is faster than e-mail. You can have conversations online with anyone who has the Instant Messenger software installed. It's fast, simple and very convenient.
What is the Instant Messenger?
The Instant Messenger is a free software program that lets you:

• See when your associates and friends are online
• Exchange instant messages with them
• Participate in group chat rooms
• Trade files such as pictures, invitations or documents

It takes about 10 minutes to download this free program over a standard, 28.8 dial-up modem and telephone line. The installation takes about three minutes. Then you're all set to add your associates' and friends' screen names to your Buddy List, and to send them instant messages!
why does the icon appear next to the e-mail addresses in the From, To, and CC lines when I'm reading an e-mail message?
We've integrated Instant Messenger into Mail on the Web! Instant Messenger is a free program that lets you find out if friends or colleagues are online and send them real-time messages!

When reading e-mail within Mail on the Web, you can see if someone in the From:, To: or Cc: line of an e-mail is currently online or offline. If the icon appears to the left of an e-mail address, that person is online. You can send him or her an instant message! If the person is offline, the icon does not appear.
How do I send someone an Instant Message from Mail on the Web?
Clicking an icon or the e-mail address link of someone in the From:, To: or Cc: lines of an e-mail message will open a page that offers you several options. If the person is online you can click the Send an Instant Message button and send a message that they'll receive in real-time!

Note: the first time you click the "Send an Instant Message" button, you will be asked whether you have Instant Messenger 3.0 or above installed on your computer or not. If you do, simply click the appropriate button and continue. If you need to download Instant Messenger, you may do so from this screen.
What is a Buddy List?
From Mail on the Web, you can click on someone's e-mail address in the From:, To: or Cc: lines when you read an e-mail and you are offered a set of choices. If the person you clicked on has Instant Messenger, you can add him or her to your Instant Messenger Buddy List.

Your Buddy List lets you keep track of your friends who are online when you are using Instant Messenger. Whenever your buddies sign on, you can see them in your Buddy List and send them messages instantly.
How do I add someone to my Buddy List from Mail on the Web?
Clicking an icon or the e-mail address link of someone in the From:, To: or Cc: lines of an e-mail message will open a page that offers you several options. If the person has an Instant Messenger screen name, you can click the Add to Buddy List button and add that person?s screen name to your Instant Messenger Buddy List. You'll be asked what Group to add your buddy to. Groups help you organize your Buddy List. For more help on Buddy Lists and Groups, please refer to the help file within Instant Messenger.

Note: the first time you click the "Add to Buddy List" button, you will be asked whether you have Instant Messenger 3.0 or above installed on your computer or not. If you do, simply click the appropriate button and continue. If you need to download Instant Messenger, you may do so from this screen.
What is my Instant Messenger name?
Your e-mail username (example: username@yourdomain.com) is also your Instant Messenger name. You use the same username or screen name and password for Instant Messenger as you do for your Mail on the Web account.
How do I start using Instant Messenger?
All you need to do is download Instant Messenger version 3.0 or above. You can use the same username or screen name and password that you're using for Mail on the Web. Download Instant Messenger now!
What versions of Instant Messenger is Mail on the Web compatible with?
You will be able to send Instant Messages directly from Mail on the Web with any of the following programs - CompuServe Instant Messenger or Netscape AOL Instant Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger and Netscape Instant Messenger. In addition, any Instant Messaging program that is "Powered by AOL" will work as well. You must use version 3.0 or above. Mail on the Web is not compatible with Yahoo! or Microsoft instant messaging software.
Writing Mail
How do I write a new message?
Click the Write Mail link to open a blank Write Mail screen in a new window. Type one or more e-mail addresses in the To, CC or BCC fields, separated by commas. Type your text in the message area. When you complete the e-mail, click the Send link.
How do I address a message?
You can type the e-mail address or addresses in the To, CC, or BCC fields, separated by line commas. You must specify at least one recipient in the To field before sending your message.
How do I send an attachment like a picture or a web page?
Clicking the Attach link opens the attachment screen. Follow the directions that appear on this screen to attach a file to your message.
Can I see a copy of the messages I send?
All messages you send from your Mail on the Web account are automatically saved in your Sent folder. You can view your sent messages by clicking the Sent tab.
Sending Mail
How can I be sure that my e-mail is received?
In the Create Mail screen, you can select the "Request return receipt from members" check box. When the member receives your e-mail, you will get a confirmation of receipt via e-mail.
How do I send an Instant Message using Mail on the Web?
When reading a message, the icon will appear next to the names of the sender or recipients who are online and have an Instant Messenger account. You can click this icon to launch an Instant Message with that person.

Note: The icon does not appear next to the names of the sender or recipients who are either not online or are not Instant Messaging users.

How do I sign off of Mail on the Web?
