"Love you? No, never!", I cursed when a crush
On a high school boy ended at another girl's blush.
"Too painful," I swore, "and therefore I'll tarry,"
Till a young man loved me, and wanted to marry.
"This, then," I vowed, "will be my life --
As partner, mother, lover, wife."
Till his love withered. We sought to sever
Our bonds. Deceit said "I love you." No, never
Mind. "I'll cease to know sinewy passion,
Live my life in stoic fashion."
Till you electrified soul and skin,
And my spirit shan't rest till I show you again
How I love you. No, never.
