Poetry: Bitter Poetry
In the Arms of Death
by Mayada Al Shereef

He rained me with kisses,
Scattered around me rose buds,
Played for me heavenly music,
Drowned me in enchanting feelings,
Brought me stars to ornament my forehead.
Then,
He threw me into that bottomless hole.
I found nothing to cling to
But a thin string of hope.
Swaying in that dreadful darkness
My heart called for him.
He heard my desperate calls and came
To cut the last thing that connected me to him.
And now after falling forever,
I lay in the arms of Death,
Being kissed by Despair,
Lulled by Anguish,
And made love to by Misery.
