Poetry: Bitter Poetry
No one doubts a quiet seashore
by David Hughley

No one doubts a quiet seashore, content
to catch the downpour from the rain; already
strained as if it needed anymore, it remains
calm and sure. Undisturbed by the many storms
which bounce against its sands, with its patience
almost worn, it borrows from the land and drinks the morning sun from a new glass. No one ever asks the gentle waves that touch its bank, if they wanted to be saved but they've learned to only wake the soul of the beauty there, and only share the view. Most importantly, never to take what it does not want to give and live for the chance for it to pass through you.
