Poetry: Bitter Poetry
November Nights
by Milton Jackson

Lost in a wilderness of shadow where portions of its existence lay.
Darkness falls; nothing changes.
For these nights are just as gray as the day.
The leaves sway back and forth through the air falling to the ground
without a sound, the trees hear their cries, so loud.
Summer is no where close, but winter is near,
the trees become bear as their cover disappears.
The grass begins to brown and dew drops begin to freeze
as these leaves face their destiny on lonely nights like these.
The wind shakes the trees; cold sweeps through the atmosphere.
This recurring scene happens year after year.
Clouds cover each ray of sunshine
as loneliness sinks into the fabric of the dark
trying to find its way to love; but it’s lost.
