Poetry: Lust & Passion
To the Menace of Vows
by Allan Traphagan

I suffered your vented anger, for failed
indescretions,,,,
with feigned gestures..the oddities of Freud
always haunting my dreams...

I let you flirt with strange shadows,
because I had bought your heart with
mystery.

You wore reptile skin beneath the
dim light's attraction for strange night
Moths, and returned with glittering dust
about your mouth.

It was then, that I sent a dark night Owl
to search for you and all that was left
was a few shining scales.

I had trusted the Spiders web that leaned
against my house, my realm of enlightenment, so
cruel in it's truth.

My love for you was not upon my soul,
nor eye, or within bone.....
but in smoky wisps of your shadows
now forbidden to my lips.
