Poetry: Lust & Passion
The Dark Haired Child
by Jessica

you think you have the right
to condemn me, to make me feel shame, fear
and distrust
but, you don't
I have risen from this,
grown from this
and with two golden frames
around my neck
I walk the path
of knowingness
and with love for my fellow human beings
who know the difference between
corruption and the dreams of a lonely, poor woman
this hysteria is ridiculous, petty in nature
and will reveal itself
meanwhile, you tell me I am empty inside
incapable of birthing children
and perhaps, I will be childless and poor
I assure you the truth will be told
a million times over
and justice will be served
I refuse to allow anyone to make me feel
ashamed or fearful again
Peace
