Poetry: Lust & Passion
Love - Hate
by Joe

We'd laugh and talk for hours
When love was fresh and new.
We'd walk for miles in stormy rains
As under sunny skies of blue.

I'd pray that each embrace would last
For all eternity.
And how my empty arms would ache
When you couldn't be near me.

But time and troubles have peeled away
Loves perfect outer shell.
To unveil our darker, inner side,
We kept masked away so well.

And now bewildered I agonize,
Is our time together done?
I love the way we use to be,
But I hate what we've become.

Each hug is worthless and empty now,
Acts of a cold, uncaring heart.
And I find that I am happier,
The longer we're apart.

We never laugh and seldom speak
We bite with angry tongue.
I love the way we use to be,
But I hate what we've become.
