Poetry: Lust & Passion
Livin for the city
by David E. Smith

My mind is unrest my spirit yearns for that closeness
Only miles can close that gaping chasm that burdens my heart
Laying awake wishing your face was next to mine
Closing my eyes to see that I am consumed by your absence

Never before have I felt to rely on anything to put me at peace
But I have come to realize the more I love you the more I need you
Like the night sky needs stars like every mountain needs a peak
Like a heart needs a beat to sustain life so I need you to exist

Not the topical illustration known as___self
But much deeper where only the eyes of the soul can penetrate
That special place beneath the surface ordinarily concealed
Unscathed uncorrupted pure and sincere emotion

Spending the rest of my life with you is all that matters now
Its so amazing how not having you by my side brings new meaning
'Alone' has long been a word to describe my daily arrangements
It was the way I did things, Now it simply denotes me without you near

Its almost difficult to contain the swells of emotion that flood my mind
The very thought of you ushers my being into a place so beautiful
Tranquil and opulent splendor envelopes every fraction of my psyche
Addicted to your voice drunken by your touch I crave your high

This period of withdrawal aches throughout my body
Cold sweat, Frustration, Hallucination ,Agony just riding me
Trying to get this monkey off my back feigning like 'pooky' in New Jack
I am to you, what a junkie is to crack.........
ADDICTED!!
