The Sunflower
by Bridgette Pena & Gloria Moreno

The Sunflower

The sunflower sits and bathes in the sun
watching the kids who play and have fun
she sits and thinks of her great days
she says and she thinks of her sunflower ways
"The freedom I have, oh, I love it so."
The flower sounds happy but she really knows that really she sits alone and confinedin the little red pot that she's come to find as a little prison,
the pot as her cell every single day she goes through this living hell"
I thought it was freedom that I had sought
but instead the opppsite is now what I've got"
sad and depressed the young flower sits
watching those happy playing little kids
"Those dear kids out there with the ability to move which ever way"
while I stand here and simply, simply sway
along with the wind that blows each day
if only that wind could take me away.....
