Poetry: Friendship & Soulmates
Sweet and Nice
by Ashley Mace

I went to a camp looking for a new face
Saw yours and you reminded me of someone old
I asked someone who you were
They told me your name and that was the case

Was it or was it not the case
I thought so for a few moments
Then I thought
You reminded me of someone old, right?
I liked him so why don’t I meet you

I didn’t make a move
That’s quite usual for me
But then I saw two girls that I knew sitting by you
I didn’t know what to do
My heart sank like a bomb
Was this going to happen again to me?
I think someone is cute and they don’t care
Well I didn’t care either

I told them I thought you were cute
That’s why I was sitting behind you at the service
They told me to talk to you
And yet again I didn’t

Until your good friend, Matt, came around and introduced me to you
I was so happy and didn’t know what to do
But you made the situation comfortable
Your sweet talk and cute ways
Was it going to be another crush?
Hope not, those don’t turn out good for me

Then I sat by you at fun time
We started talking and I loved it
You were so sweet, I didn’t want this night to end
It didn’t matter that you were younger or older or who cares
All I know is that you were so sweet

Unfortunately that was the last night
Even though I met you in the morning and you still made the situation perfect
I didn’t have the chance to ask for your number or address

Now I have to wait till next year or maybe I’ll see you at the teen talent
Hope so
Because you’re so sweet and nice

I know your different then the rest of the guys that I have met and liked
Don’t change
Still stay sweet and nice
