Poetry: Friendship & Soulmates
Change was never a friend of mine
by Calvin

Things have changed so much from one year ago this day
From the guy who always had a group and always knew what to say.
To the guy who always eats lunch alone or spends it in a book.
Who analyzed every detail in every cranny and every nook.
Who thought too much of others and little of his self.
While secretly always wanting, to be someone else.

He would dwell in the metaphysics to explain his loses and his gains.
Or why she had changed when all the others had stayed the same.
Or how it is when you lose everything you have it all to gain and then you gain it all
back, but they are never quite the same.
Superfluous to anyone else these thoughts slowly drive you mad.
Change was never a friend of mine.
