mirror mirror on the wall
by deepa bhagnari
I looked into the mirror one fine day
And saw the tell tale signs of age on my face
I cried and moped, and wished time would stop
But alas time went running by and mocked at my fears!
Then one fine day I met my childhood friend
Her once beautiful face was ravaged and worn
I hugged her and cried and cried
But she just stood with vacant eyes!
I saw the fear, the fight for life in her eyes
But her ravaged face I didn't see at all!
I prayed and prayed and hoped God would hear
My frantic pleas for life for her!
I look into the mirror daily now
I see the lines and wrinkles writ large on my face
But I know that they are not to fear
For it is just Time leaving its footprints on my face!
