Poetry: Friendship & Soulmates
Childish Affection
by Mindy

Yes or no?
Answer me this,
will you be mine?
Come along with me on this spring night.
Take my hand and walk with me.
The moon is full,
the stars, they wink.
We walk through the woods,
entranced by an unknown beauty.
The creek bubbles excitedly.
We talk with whistfullness,
of times when we were young,
sledding down the hill
watching movies.
I think
I love you.
But who knows,
childish affection or something more.
The way I feel when I'm with you.
The trees have no answer,
this is something
I must decide on my own.
My house is in view.
We're here, at the door.
You say goodbye.
This is it?
One last night in a childish harmony.
Who knew,
we'd end this way.
The grass cries for me.
I watch you walk away.
I yell to you
you turn, I run to you.
The moon is the only witness
as we relish in a childish affection,
that has become something more.
