Poetry: Friendship & Soulmates
Disco Freak
by Aurelia

As I walked into the room
Love, lust, cigarettes and booze
Whatever one could consumed
Filled the gloom of the room
As the music plays
I reminisce on days
When as a child I would watched
My parents getting ready whilst drinking scotch
Filled with the disco ailment
As I watched in utter amazement

My hips seem to be out of control
As I sauntered unto the dance floor
Consumed by disco music
The air filled with perfume
Unnoticed of the eyes that zoomed
Unto a body so well groomed

Unawares of the stares
I discoed with myself
Blocking out all despairs
The clicking of my stiletto heels
Seemed to move me around like wheels

Ohhhh! I just love the way this music makes me feel
I floated away to somewhere surreal
Suddenly I felt arms of mild steel
Gave me a gently twirl
As my dress softly around me swirl

Opened eyes revealed to whom these arms belong
One quite so fine and deftly strong
Kept me in place as the DJ plays his songs

Never missed a beat, in step with my feet
It was getting hot, my sweat and dress did meet
As me and my love dance across the floor
Was like we’ve never met before
The crowd roared

As we danced through the cigarette fumes
My mind replayed the disco scene
As when I had walked into the room
