Rain
by Terri Arnold
I watched you fall
Your melody divine
A syncopated rhythm
As my heart kept time
Softly, softly against my window pane
Drumming my tympanic, a sensuous refrain
Glittering fancifully against darkened skies
Entangled in the depths of my troubled cries
Face pressed lightly against this windowpane.
Did I hear you sweetly whisper my name?
Shadowed by this overcast of impassioned sin
Opened my mouth and drank you in
Slowly but surely ebbing down to my inner core
Puddling around my soul once more
Drowning in the midst of this unbridled sorrow
Will you sprinkle rainbows into my tomorrow?
Softly, so softly against my window pane
Falls my rain.
