Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Living Death
by Adam Schneider

LIVING DEATH

Listening to my voice so intently
Tying the bait that’s trying to bend me
Been in hate for months but evidently
She’s hiding behind her fronts

I know its in my eyes but
I’ll only spit despise
For her eagerness to leave me
Pining for the safe side

Where ropes undone
She’s whored and hurt
In the name of fun

Cut me out n’ cut me down
I still know that heart
Is hallowed stone

Crumbling with every beat
As if stumbling could bring defeat.

This hurt in our eyes
Turns the pain so loud
Deafening love lost
And warmth not found

Tragically stricken and maimed
We’re so sadly the same
Lowering down to find we’re
Just sickened by this game

Six feet under and short of breath
We’re half past life and living death.
