Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
The Image of Her Face
by David Cannon

She made me want to be more,
I longed to shine upon her life,
Every wish I held for her
Came in dreams within the night,

In darkness I'd awaken,
To the beating of my heart,
That drove a rhythm of my pain,
Beyond the sleepy stars,

For a short while I would gaze,
Speaking her name unto the sky,
Some how hoping she could hear me,
And dry the tears within my eyes,

I slept my heart uneasy,
Craving her embrace,
The only comfort dreams gave me,
Was the image of her face.
