Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Love Foregone
by Alan Gorman

Winter’s chill upon my face
Yet warmer than our last embrace
A fleeting moment past
Our love was never meant to last

My broken heart sobs for you
It feels love held pure and true
Tomorrow may be bitter sweet
And I will only feel defeat

Until I see your eyes so fair
And touch your floating golden hair
I’ll lay my head upon your breast
To feel your heart within your chest

And listen to it long for me
Before you’re torn again to flee
Love eternal left behind
For someone else to find

When you lie upon your bed
And when your heart moves to your head
If only you would dream of me
I will leave and set you free
