Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Stepping out of the BOX
by David Smith

How do you ever know when it's time to move on.."Love is really an action. It's about doing, not feeling, especially during the moments when you inconveniently lack those feelings that make your actions easier."
So I ask again how? How do you know? Love is a work in progress but should never be hard. Your actions should convey even without those three little words spoken. If its not inspiring or moving to the depths of your soul; taking in mind that some people are shallow and require less than others. If love does not move you to dance or hum a simple tune or share an unexpected smile with a total stranger, reminiscent of a moment. If it doesn't conjure happiness in spite of your daily routine causing you to be taken away from it all - by it all then is it then not purposeless and futile, pliable but not tangible. And so at this point, the question is drawn how do you hold on to something that doesn’t really exist unless you need it to. I understand that "need" is a strong word but I use it because if you want a thing badly enough one only tries but so hard then at the end of it all if success is not found succumbs to defeat. But within this dilemma lies an even bigger question which is, was it worth the trouble in the first place?
Was your aspiration practical, because after all love is just that: a capricious desire of the heart powerful enough to create barriers or build bridges, attainable but mostly far reached for even the most astute improviser.
Love is the ultimate diplomat or tyrant fighting in the name of its cause …Whatever one would have it to be.
However once truly experienced ………Well let’s just say it’s hard to settle for anything less…
