the lilac bush will bloom full this spring,
what beautiful flowers its going to bring,
hard to believe its still so small after growing for 9 years,
I wish we were together instead of crying these tears.
the rose bush will be beautiful too,
full of big red roses for you,
reaching tall up toward the sun,
this year I wont be there to give you the last one.
many things have changed in such a short time,
our new lives by your choice, not mine,
for you and for me..and the way we feel,
I only hope time will eventually heal.
I will grow new plants in new ground,
and they will flower even though your not around,
they will be a symbol of my new life,
and help me get over all the years of being your wife.
lilacs are fragrant and the roses red,
salty are the many tears I've shed,
you've replaced me over the years so many times, and you know thats true,
and despite all of that...I still love you.
