Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
First Kiss
by Jody Galindo

The three beasts stocked a girl;
As I saw them I got ready to hurl.
They charged her with an unpleasant blade.
Knowing the crime--I was the blockade.

The knife tore at my flesh with nasty greed.
The bloody blade smiles--my stomach bleed.
Anger rushed my head; I was ready for the fight.
I yanked it form my body, I felt pain with much delight.
The girl cried in shock, she felt my lust...
I know what I have to do--I must...
I gave the warning, two fled;
One stayed--now he's good as dead.

He charged me and I held on.
Dizzie, light-headed, weak, I'm almost gone.
I felt the urge to protect this girl with my power.
She stayed for me, although scared, she didn't cower.
The beast lost, the blade had two blood types.
Mine and now his--what a hype.
Love had brought me and her together;
Too bad for me, I'm done forever.

I tured and looked at her, and she at me.
What beauty I saw--how could this be?
I saw an open field with tall grass
This vision I'm seeing, on Earth; my last.
She stood there with gorgeous brown eyes;
Life is spilling from me; but are these lies?
No...Love granted me strength to save that girl...
As I looked upon her face, she's as precious as a pearl.

I collasped to the floor, and she ran up to me.
Tears dropped from her face, is this love I see?
The end came finally...I was lifeless.
She bent down and gave me my first kiss.
