Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Grey Friars Bobbie
by Josette Lager

Dearest Bobbie all dressed to
the nines, wearing a lovely fur
coat stolling down the cobble
stone walk in the village below.

We all know and love you Bobbie
the shopkeepers tip their hats to
you, the ladies twirl their parasols
and the men dance a little jig.

You drink the finest napoleon cognac
and eat the finest beef, you've never
been thrown a bone and never caused
anyone grief.

Ah,but your own heart is a grievin' laddie,
for when the clock strikes three and the
bells begin to tow once again you say
goodbye to the folks down below,I love
you master see you tomorrow a little past
three graveside.
